Not so great

The combat was sub-par, the troop control as well. I did not like that AI was not available when troops were selected. It was too easy to click OFF the troops and lose your selection. They additionally move too slow.

The minimap quit working. At that point, I quit.

mhm...we'll do better on the sequel.

Needs better color differentiation

It would've gotten more from me, but when blue and purple are essentially indistinguishable and green and yellow very nearly so, the game loses its fun. The level requiring 15 + shaped purples was absurdly hard because blue and purple looked the same. It would be fairly easy to remedy by making the green slightly darker and the purple slightly darker or lighter. Or if you'd rather not adjust colors, maybe add an extra sparkle on the troubling colors to differentiate.

Other than that, I enjoyed it.

boonclaw responds:

I'm sorry you had trouble with the colors. I suppose you are color blind? You're the second player to complain about indistinguishable colors. The other one, being color blind, complained about purple and blue. I promise to take care of this in my next game, I can't change this anymore in this one.

This game is bull...

It was ok at first. A bit annoying in some ways. Eventually health becomes impossible to recover and it seemed like the pain killers and experiment didn't heal me at all. Then in an encounted with 6 ruffians, I chose to protect my body as I assumed protecting both body and head would result in neither being protected. It then said "You wake up 3 days later in the hospital, you could've died" then I died. That's annoying and completely contradictory and bullshitty.

BlueFlameSkulls responds:

You should have seen how health was going to work in earlier versions.

You would have complained the game was too easy.

I liked this game...

...until it gave me negative 1.5 million gold. What was that about?
Normal level, did my killing thing, got negative 1.5 million and it said "nice try".

Really fun until that.

Kidgamez responds:

Wow very strange, you would have had to have a lot of gold already to be able to lose that much in 1 level O_o

I wish I could play.

I'm red/green colorblind and what I assume are blue and purple appear to be the same color. Usually when I complain about this in games, I read other non-colorblind people say the colors are awfully similar. Perhaps you could make more differentiation.

On the 3rd level after I thought I had all the colors locked right, and went around it 3 times and decided it was good, I finally suspected that there were 3+ colors not just two like I saw. After that I gave up as I could not make any differentiation even when right next to each other.

bowlerhat responds:

There's a colorblind mode that can be enabled from the settings screen. Try it out and let me know how well it works for you.

Kinda fun..

Pretty good game. Got really repetitive though and only once the red enemies appeared did the game start freezing for me. The locks over the weapons was really annoying. Fix it. I would like it better if the weaponfire reflected damage levels better. And the energy system for the weapons is kinda weird. Get down to 0 and then has to reload. It's not a cartridge or a battery, it's regenerating, so shouldn't it actively do that, so if you use your gun too much you can't shoot any more? I enjoyed it for a while.

soybeansoft responds:

Thanks for the review and good point you have there for the weapon energy system. I'll try to make it more logical for my next game :).

Why...

I found it annoying not being able to separate troops. There's very little strategy in that regard, also, I think you should be able to move units 5 spaces per turn, not 5 or less spaces once per turn.

My biggest complaint though is that periodically, all of my troops would simultaneously explode and I would be informed I lost. There was no explanation for this, and enemy troops got nowhere near mine after 4 turns.

You loose when your capital is captured, defend your capital by all means! It's clearly explained in help.

This is GREAT!

A very fun and clever game. I played it several times til my forearm got tired. 6th place at the moment with 7 million points.

The numbers floating for score make it sooo much harder, but that's a good thing I believe. There's not much to say about it that you haven't already said.

My strategy was to put my cursor in the top left, then use tab to select the start button and start slamming it back and forth as fast as possible til the next one is about to spawn and go down a bit and do the same about 3 times. Then slowly zig zagging in a very organized pattern and HOPEFULLY get your cursor back into the slow track and start over again. I wasn't good at that last part because playing on the couch makes my mouse jerky.

The reason for the tab trick is that if you start the game by clicking, your cursor spawns too low and you lose about 1/5 of the playing field.

Good luck! Thanks a lot for making this game.

PromnesiacC10H14N2 responds:

Indeed, I noticed that when playing myself but didn't find time to fix it yet. I'll add a countdown at the start later. No problem, thanks for the review!

Pretty good, one major annoyance

I would've given this a 10 but two things stopped me. First the seemingly random crystal and weapon colors are tricky. Some of the enemy fire looks like crystals as a result. That's 1 point.

The bigger issue is the invisible barrier that you can't cross. You're trying to dodge the mowers and all of a sudden you can't go any higher on the screen and you don't know where that line of stoppage is. It's infuriating.

Other than that, good game. The throbbing music keeps up the intensity for a while.

Skellus responds:

Both changed :)

Thanks for feedback!

Sweet.

This game was splendid. I had to quit playing a bit quick cuz I had to get to school, but still, wonderful game. Good graphics.
